You’re Gonna Miss Me Rating: 3/5
Year: 2005
Review: An interesting look at a very misunderstood musician, Roky Erickson. Did not know that his first band The 13th Floor Elevators coined the term “psychedelic rock.”

Charles Mingus: Triumph of the Underdog
Year: 1998
Rating: 3/5
Review: A decent documentary about Charles Mingus. Wish it delved more into some of his albums (such as Black Saint & the Sinner Lady) but still an interesting subject matter.

Jandek On Corwood Rating: 4/5
Year: 2003
Review: The rating is based solely on the content. The production value is pretty low, but then again so is Jandek’s music. A very interesting look at perhaps the most elusive musical artist. You don’t get much insight until the final scene, which is a recreation of a phone call interview with him. Recommended for esoteric music lovers.

Hated: G.G. Allin & the Murder Junkies
Year: 1993
Rating: 4/5
Review: Warning - not for the faint of heart; this is one of the most intense documentaries I have ever seen. A very interesting look at G.G. Allin, perhaps the most insane and dangerous musician ever. Directed by Todd Phillips (Road Trip, The Hangover, etc.)

The Exiles
Year: 1961
Rating: 2.5/5
Review: A documentary about American indians who leave the reservation for another life in Los Angeles; couldn’t really get into the movie’s unique style, but still interesting to see a 1960’s Los Angeles filmed this way; some stunning visuals.

Trouble The Water

Rating: 4/5
Review: Great documentary about the devastation of Katrina that focuses mainly on one family; amazing footage taken during the hurricane.
